The moment everyone was waiting for… twice!

I didn’t exactly stay up for the entire wedding… The alarm was originally set for 12:50 am so I can stay up and watch the wedding festivities; however, I opted for my sleep and sanity. I eventually woke up around 4 am to a fussing baby Sofia and turned on the TV to (groggily) catch the final moments of the new bride and groom walking back down the aisle, and of course witnessed that now historic double kiss. Sofia could be less aware of what was going on, but definitely helped to make the wedding memorable. Soon after the royal kiss, Sofia proceeded to barf all over me. Classic.

At least I can tell her that funny “royal” anecdote when she’s older.

Kate certainly looked picture perfect. The Alexander McQueen wedding dress was stunning on her, equally elegant as it was modest. It’s sad that McQueen was not alive to see what would surely have been a proud moment for him. No doubt that design will be a popular request of brides in the coming year.

I remember wondering earlier why everybody was making such a big fuss about the wedding, but I realize now how special it really was. I wasn’t alive to see the wedding of Diana and Charles in 1981, but I imagine that the mood was quite similar. This was something that the world needed. It’s literally the “Superbowl” for women. It’s what nearly every young girl wishes and imagines for herself: to be a Princess swept off her feet by a charming Prince. We all wish for that moment of walking down the aisle, the center of attention, feeling like the most beautiful girl in the world. This was the moment everybody wanted to see. That fairytale of the ordinary girl becoming a Princess… It was the glimmer of good news that people could focus on in a world full of trouble and conflict.

Best wishes to the new bride and groom.

Photoshoot: Michele Walters

3 Sep

Yesterday I had the pleasure of working with an awesome model, Michele Walters, for a long-awaited photoshoot. After much delay and scheduling conflicts we finally got together to do a shoot.
I did her make-up, as well as the photography.

We trekked out to Discovery Park in Seattle, makeup, wardrobe and photography equipment at hand (not to mention my handy reflector-holding boyfriend), and got to working. After doing some hiking we found some sweet locations. One of which was this sandy alcove on the edge of a cliff overlooking the water, it was awesome. Definitely a location to keep in mind for future shoots. Although it was sandy, with the wind whipping hair in our faces, we got some amazing shots and I’m so happy with the outcome.

We did a variety of looks, from summery “At the beach” to magical “Alice in Wonderland”.

Here’s a sneak peak shot from our first location on the sand…

Keep your eyes peeled for more to come.

Man, I’ve really been slacking on this blog.

Sorry.

It’s been a busy few weeks with filming, plays, and other personal … stuff.

It’s a good busy though, hectic, but good.

I had a little free time yesterday evening before going to see Scott Pilgrim vs. the World with the boyfriend (which was awesome, by the way), so I went into the downtown Nordstrom’s and drooled over all the bags and shoes I can’t afford.

I noticed a bit of a trend in the shoe section. Military style boots looked like they were coming back. Knee highs, ankle boots, with heels, without heels, leather, patent leather, red, black, brown…
Personally, I really love that laced up look. Once I get some money I’m gonna snag me a pair…

On another note… what’s with all the gap-toothed models these days? I’m not really a fan.

On quite the unrelated note…

This is a really cute puppy. 🙂
