Took some self-portraits of myself yesterday, I was kind of bored. I plan on putting them up on my “official” website when I eventually get around to getting it back up, (I really need to get on that, actually). More pictures are on my flickr, here.

Did a lot of photo-editing yesterday, finally got all of my Port Townsend shots edited and up, as well as some behind-the-scenes shots from “The Frames”. All on my Flickr, yo.

Funny story about Port Townsend though, I know there are shots of the Wooden Boat Festival that I put up. Frankly, when my mother and I decided to go out there that day, we had no clue that was happening. So as we were getting closer to town we notice the heavy traffic, and we both groan as we see the big banner hanging on the main drag with the words “WOODEN BOAT FESTIVAL 9/11 – 9/13”, we realize that finding parking was going to be absolutely dreadful, but we give it a try anyways. I mean, we drove all the way out there. So after driving around town a few times with no luck, I find a parallel spot towards the entrance of town and I go for it. Now, I don’t do parallel parking that much – I honestly hate street parking, I would much rather pay the 5, 10 bucks for a safe parking garage than park on the side of the street where people could walk or drive by my car and possibly ding it. Anyhow, I parked there, and did a pretty darn good job of manouvering in. I was rather proud of myself.

So once we got parked and got some food in our bellies, my mother and I had quite a lovely day. We walked around town, took photos, reminisced of Port Townsend trips of old, and checked out part of the Wooden Boat Festival. I of course wanted to go out by Fort Worden (I just discovered that I had been spelling Fort Worden incorrectly when I googled it, it’s WOrden, and not WArden as I had been spelling it for however long, oops.) and take some photos, so we did that too. I love Fort Worden, the spooky bunkers, the beach, lighthouse, whatever it is about that place always draw me there, I know they shot “An Officer and a Gentleman” out there back in the 80’s, I’d love to shoot a film out there myself some day. It’s a gorgeous location.

Anyhow, gotta get to work.
Expect a Vlog update from me sometime today, probably in the next hour or so.

Last Day of Summer ’09

21 Sep
Here’s a picture from my mother and I’s Port Townsend trip about a week and a half ago – more photos to come. So, it’s the last day of Summer.

Wild.

The weather is great, sun’s out, grass is green, and my dog hasn’t eaten any cat poop today. This is good.

For many of my college friends, today is their first day of school; I, however, have yet another two weeks to wait.

I’m not complaining.

I just got some encouraging news today though, due to my already earned AA degree, I have been able to transfer over 9 classes to the Art Institute. That means, 9 Gen-Ed classes I don’t have to take. That’s basically 2 quarters I have shaved off my tuition. Awesome.

In other news, the photography meet-up yesterday went pretty well.
Met a lot of great people, and made some great art.

I honestly don’t know what I was so nervous about, everybody was so accomodating and genuinely nice, talented too! I hope that I can continue to work with that studio in the future. The weather was great, and so was the company; I definitely had a blast and can’t wait to do it again.
(I’ll be posting photos of my make-up work from the shoot as soon as they are edited and sent to me!)

Anyhow, before I go, I definitely need to acknowledge the rather disappointing Project Runway episode from last Thursday. It was basically a newspaper-dress challenge, something similar to many the “recycling” challenge seen on the show. However, I felt the innovation was lacking, I mean, how many times can you do newspaper clothing and not make it into another origami project?

The winning design, by Irina Shabayeva, I didn’t find that impressive; although yes, it was different than the other designs, it lacked a bit of polish.
My favorites were actually Logan’s (the blues!) and Carol Hannah’s; I mean, they’re made out of newspaper! Beautiful. I was rather surprised neither were in the top 3.

Anyhow, I’ll stop ranting.

Oh!
The new season of Dancing with the Stars premieres tonight! Too bad I’m gonna miss it though, darn production meeting.

Oh well, I’ll just have to catch up on it later.

I have a feeling this will be a good week.

Wrapping it Up

15 Sep
The fact that I am still mostly coherent and my brain isn’t cottage cheese status, is undoubtedly a miracle.

This past weekend constisted of hiking into the dark abyss of night, spookiness, make-up, asian-ness, old-ness, tiredness, filming, all-nighters, heart-to-hearts, pancakes and pho.

48 hours of work, less than 4 hours of sleep.

That’s how we do.

I am absolutely exhausted, but very excited by the work that was accomplished this weekend – I’ll be updating on the weekends activities and uploading photos from set in the next few days.

I think it would be best to refrain from writing any more until I get a little more rest, I could do with a much deserved night of sleep in my own bed.

It’s good to be home.

In other news, I’d like to give a quick nod of recognition to actor Patrick Swayze, he passed away today after a long battle with pancreatic cancer (here’s an update from E! News). The much celebrated Dirty Dancing and Ghost star, will be greatly missed.

May he Rest in Peace.

P.S.
About Kanye West… well, that’s all I really need to say.

P.P.S
As for Logan Neitzel and this past week’s Project Runway episode. Did I call that or what? He cut it super close, and I nearly had a heart attack. Let’s hope he learned from this incident.
